Arthritis Aide - Gin Soaked Rasins

Raisins.Image via WikipediaBy Carol Eustice, About.com Guide

Updated July 10, 2006

Question: Can Gin-Soaked Raisins Really Help Arthritis?
It may sound silly the first time you hear it. Eating gin-soaked raisins for arthritis is often touted by its faithful as a natural "cure" or an effective folk remedy for arthritis pain. But, can gin-soaked raisins really help arthritis?
Answer:

Gin-Soaked Raisins for Arthritis: What is it?

The consumption of homemade gin-soaked raisins has become a popular folk remedy for arthritis, destined to take its place among other unproven arthritis folk remedies such as copper bracelets, bee stings, certo fruit pectin and magnets. When most hear of this practice, their response tends to be something like "are you serious?". Some are serious and swear that the gin and raisins remedy helps relieve their arthritis pain.
Gin-Soaked Raisins for Arthritis: What is the Recipe?

Although there are several versions and variations of the gin-soaked raisin remedy, the general recipe seems to go something like this:
# take a box of golden raisins. (note: they must be the golden variety, sometimes called white raisins, not ordinary black raisins).
# place the raisins in a shallow container.
# cover the raisins with gin.
# let the raisins soak in the gin for a few weeks until the gin evaporates.
# you then eat nine of these drunken raisins a day to help your arthritis. (note: nine a day is the number you see most often, but you'll find many variations of the number).
Gin-Soaked Raisins for Arthritis: What is the Background?

Where and when did this remedy start? Since this is a folk remedy, it's hard to say just when and where it got its start. Purportedly the remedy got its first real boost in the 1990's when radio icon Paul Harvey mentioned the remedy during one of his popular broadcasts.

After the remedy got press, it made its way into media outlets across the country. Several versions of the recipe, including many convincing testimonials on its effectiveness, have now been included in several books about home and folk remedies.

More recently, according to a report in the New York Daily News, on the 2004 presidential campaign trail, Teresa Heinz Kerry (wife of democratic presidential candidate John Kerry) ended a Nevada visit to discuss health care with a discussion on what she called “a highly effective” remedy for arthritis that drew laughter and some skepticism from the audience. She was reported to have said, "You get some gin and get some white raisins - and only white raisins - and soak them in the gin for two weeks. Then eat nine of the raisins a day." Needless to say, the political bloggers had a heyday with her comments, which only added to her quirky image.
Gin-Soaked Raisins for Arthritis: Does it really work?
# To date, there have been no placebo-controlled double-blind studies to prove the efficacy of the remedy. However, many "theories" do exist as to why this remedy might have some value. Some think it's the sulfur or sulphides used in the process of making the "white" or golden raisins. However, according to the Raisin Administrative Committee, "In much of the world, including the USA, the golden raisin is also referred to as a "bleached raisin." This is an incorrect term, as the dark raisin is not bleached. Rather, the enzymatic browning that normally occurs in a fresh grape is slowed down by treatment of sulfur dioxide gas. The raisin is preserved in a glimmering golden color. In the USA we call this a "golden" raisin."
# Some think it's the juniper berries used in gin. According to Barry Lazar from montrealfood.com, "The flavour of gin comes from juniper berries. These come from conifer plants, evergreens common in Europe and North America. New berries appear in the fall and can take two or three years to ripen. They are rich in vitamin C and terpenes, the essential oil which, in large quantities is manufactured into turpentine. During the Middle Ages the berries were kept in nosegays to help block the scent of the plague. For centuries, medicinal usage favoured using them in anti-inflammatory prescriptions."
# Some think it's the raisins. As stated in the Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook on Mother Nature.com, "If you benefit from gin-steeped raisins, the raisins probably do you more good than the gin. Grapes and raisins contain many pain relieving, anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory chemicals."
# Some think it's the placebo effect. It is known that when people believe strongly in a treatment their endorphins and natural pain mediators are enhanced. Also, arthritis characteristically has periods of flares and remissions. You may attribute feeling better to the gin and raisins when it's truly due to a remission.
Gin-Soaked Raisins for Arthritis: The Bottom Line

Never begin any new treatment without first consulting your doctor. If you are considering this remedy, you should discuss it with your doctor. There could be negative interactions with your current treatment. As a guideline, when home remedies are considered, they should be "in addition to" rather than "instead of" current medical treatment.

The Whole Child: Prescription for Play

by kiwilog

2997625176_7f609aa623

Imagine a treatment that would improve your mood, make you smarter, keep you healthier and improve your relationships. How much would you invest in that therapy?

Turns out there is such a thing, and best of all – it’s free. It’s called “nature.”

How many of you were told as youngsters by a parent or grandparent – “Just go out and play”? And then you did just that. You’d go out for hours after school, just exploring the backyard, or the woods, or the playground, with your friends until it was dinnertime.

I am afraid we have lost touch with the value of free time and play, especially for our children. What better time than summer to re-focus on the lost art of simply playing outside?

We have overscheduled children frantically trying to keep up with their overscheduled parents in our 21st century world where relaxation time must be planned as well. Play-dates have replaced free play, often booked weeks in advance as parents link up their PDA’s to ensure kids can hang out together.

I know, I know, it’s a different world now. The ability to pay “partial continuous attention” is a highly valued skill these days. Parents feel the pressure to prepare their children for the “real world” they’ll face. Globalization forces us to compare our educational systems not only to those of neighboring towns but to those of other countries half-way across the world. I am not so naive as to believe we can turn back the clock and remove all stress from life. Indeed, as researcher Hans Selye noted, stress is not necessarily a bad thing; it is simply “the nonspecific response of the body to any demand.” So we must focus on teaching our children not how to avoid demands per se but how to develop better coping mechanisms. One of the best ways, it seems, is to promote free, unstructured play – especially in natural, outdoor settings.

More and more research is pointing out the costs of hectic childhoods and lack of time spent in outdoor settings. Richard Louv, author of “The Last Child in the Woods,” aptly termed this phenomenon, “Nature-Deficit Disorder.” His Children and Nature Network was specifically created to encourage us to reconnect with nature. A mounting number of research studies highlight the positive impact of free outdoor play on children’s emotional and physical health. A study published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine (Burdette HL, Whitaker RC: Resurrecting free play in young children: looking beyond fitness and fatness to attention, affiliation, and affect. Arch Pediatr Adolesc Med 159: 46-50) highlights the physical toll on our children: “We propose that efforts to increase physical activity in young children might be more successful if physical activity is promoted using different language-encouraging play-and if a different set of outcomes are emphasized-aspects of child well-being other than physical health.”

Another study, published in the American Journal of Public Health (Kuo FE, Taylor AF: A potential natural treatment for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder: evidence from a national study. Am J Public Health 94:1580-6), demonstrates the positive effects of outdoor play on children with ADHD. The American Academy of Pediatrics authored a seminal report, “The Importance of Play in Promoting Healthy Child Development and Maintaining Strong Parent-Child Bonds,” written in defense of play and in response to forces threatening free play and unscheduled time.

Not that we necessarily have to develop an evidence-base to feel good about recommending free, unstructured play for our children, but in this crazy world where some towns actually schedule one night a year for families to be together and relax, we need all the help we can get.

How can we create such a place? Psychologist Michael Thompson, author of “Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys,” recently blogged about a wonderful lost world he re-discovered. He describes this world….

“… where people sit down and eat three meals together every day, serving their food from platters and talking with one another throughout the meal. A world where ten-year-olds set the table for dinner and take all the dishes back to the kitchen when the meal is finished, without complaint. A world where thirteen-year-old boys don’t play video games every night, nor do they watch TV or sit in front of computers. Instead, they lie on their beds and read comic books and graphic novels, sometimes even grown-up novels. In this world I saw eleven-year-old girls walking together and holding hands as they walked back to their cabins. Right out in the open. No girls there send mean instant messages to one another; they don’t I.M. at all. Instead, they sing. When they are making their beds (yes, they make their beds every morning) and sweeping out their rooms, they sing together. First one starts to sing a song, and then the others join in, spontaneously. There is no adult leading them.”

Doesn’t this sound too good to be true? What Dr. Thompson is describing, of course, is summer camp. I bring up this example not to suggest that all children should go to summer camp or that all families can afford or would choose to send them. It is but one example of finding space for children to literally unplug and just be. Wouldn’t it be incredible if we could create this world somewhere in every community? This is a major socioeconomic challenge.

First Lady Michelle Obama is one of those taking on this challenge. Her “Let’s Move” campaign to combat childhood obesity recently launched a complementary initiative – “Let’s Move Outside”

- to expressly promote having fun and getting fit in the great American outdoors. “America’s Great Outdoors”, in fact, the name of an initiative announced this spring by President Obama in part “to help families spend more time outdoors, building on what the First Lady has done through the Let’s Move Initiative, to encourage young people to hike and bike and get outside more often.”

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, during the press conference to announce the initiative, commented:

“80% of Americans now live in urban areas, many with limited access to clean and safe open spaces… Americans are losing touch with those historical places where our nation was formed, sites that bind us with a shared heritage. Our children spend half as much time outside as their parents once did as we face an epidemic of childhood obesity… Innovation and collaboration will be required to meet these challenges. A start has already been made. Tens of thousands of young Americans actively participating in youth conservation organizations taking root across the country. A new generation reconnecting with nature as they build trails, plant trees and restore the land.”

We must join with and support our children in this movement. There are many obstacles to our success in this endeavor, but we must see these challenges not as insurmountable barriers but as opportunities to create a healthier world.

Enough reading (and writing) already– let’s get outside and play!

How to Make Affirmations Work

It only takes a few minutes to make affirmations but they work like magic because they change your focus and your whole outlook at life. When used properly, affirmations are a tremendous opportunity to change your negative, destructive thoughts with positive, constructive thoughts that will result in you taking positive actions and creating the life you have always wanted. However, this is not the whole story. Most people bypass two factors that are indispensable in changing your life through the power of affirmations. This article reveals the two missing ingredients to make affirmations work for you.
1- Consistency
The absolute worst way to undermined your effort is to be inconsistent with your affirmation routine.
You see, every activity we start (or every goal we set) is like a seed that we plant. a seed does not produce fruits as soon as it is planted but it needs time to grow: it is the law of sowing and reaping.
If you take the time to observe how things work on earth, you will come to realize that everything is submitted to this law. The time to grow might be different from one seed to another but it always come into play.
Another thing you need to be aware of is that the seed planted must literally die in the ground if it is to produce forth a tree and then fruits. In the same way you might go through rough patches when starting your affirmation routines (doubt, discouragement as to their success) but know that these are signs that change is taking place from your innermost being.
2- Belief
The greatest lesson I've learned about affirmations is that you must choose to believe that what you are saying is true
One of the characteristic of belief - something most of us forget - is that it is not based on our senses (what we see, hear, touch, smell or taste). It would seem irrational (without intellectual foundation or reasoning to explain the "why" behind it) at a time but it is the very nature of a belief: it is not tangible.
The best thing then you could do is to simply CHOOSE to believe what you are saying is true...experience will definitely follow if you keep the thought of your affirmations in your head during the day. I am not suggesting that you exclusively think about them but rather that you should use them as "weapons" to stop any negative thinking that can prevent you from acting as you should to know success.
And there you have it: consistency in your affirmation routine and belief in what you are saying are the missing ingredients that make people say that affirmation do not work.
If you start implementing what is taught above, there is no reason why you won't change your life in the way that you so desire. The law of sowing and reaping always work.

Are You Running Short on this Important Nutrient?

Metabolism of folic acid. The role of Vitamin ...Image via Wikipedia

As you age, your body becomes less capable of utilizing this crucial nutrient for the healthy metabolism of fats and carbohydrates.* Here's what you need to know to keep your body's engine running efficiently.*

Vitamin B12 is known as the “energy vitamin,” and it is essential for many critical functions in your body, including energy production, supporting your immune system, and helping to regulate the formation of red blood cells.* Recent studies from the US Framingham trial show that one in four adults in the US are deficient in this vitally important nutrient and nearly half of the population has suboptimal blood levels.

Vitamin B12 is present only in animal sources of food--which is one of the reasons I advise against being a strict vegetarian or a vegan. This deficiency can result in less than optimal nervous system function, a tendency toward nervousness, and even less-than-optimal eye health.*

How You Get Vitamin B12 Deficient

The older you get the more likely you are to have a vitamin B12 deficiency. The two ways that you become deficient in vitamin B12 are from not getting enough in your diet and from losing the ability to absorb it.

I recently visited India which is primarily a vegetarian based culture and current studies there show about 80% of the adults are deficient in vitamin B12. However, vegans are not the only ones who can become vitamin B12 deficient.

The older you get the more your digestive system breaks down, especially if you have been following the standard American diet. Specifically the lining of your stomach gradually loses its ability to produce hydrochloric acid which releases vitamin B 12 from your food. The use of antacids or anti ulcer drugs will also lower your stomach acid secretion and decrease your ability to absorb vitamin B 12. Infection with Helicobactor pylori, a common contributor to stomach ulcers, can also result in vitamin B12 deficiency.

However the main cause of vitamin B 12 deficiency is a term researchers call food-cobalamin malabsorption syndrome. Cobalamin is the scientific term for vitamin B12. This typically results when your stomach lining loses its ability to produce intrinsic factor which is a protein that binds to vitamin B12 and allows your body to absorb it at the end of your small intestine.

NEW Form of Vitamin B12 Not Found in Most Health Food and Vitamin Stores.

If you often feel tired, run-down, and lacking in energy, you're not alone. Low energy is one of our country's biggest health complaints. Vitamin B12

Some of the top reasons for this are:

  • Refined foods sold in grocery stores are depleted of vital nutrients...
  • Refined foods are loaded with sugar...
  • Refined foods are full of chemicals...
  • Refined foods are overloaded with food colorings; and...
  • Refined foods are loaded with preservatives...

...but it doesn't stop there, either.

Add the harmful effects of caffeine, pollution, conventional therapies, and the stress most of us experience everyday... and you've got yourself a recipe for energy drain.

Well, I'm here to tell you there's a new way to give yourself extra energy.* Actually, a cutting edge way to feel more energized -- without the jitteriness of caffeine.* More on this in a moment.

Now, of course, powering up with extra energy is just one of B12's many health benefits*. So...

Vitamin B12 Energy Booster Spray

What Critical Health Benefits Does this Vitamin Bring to the Table?

For starters, vitamin B12 helps folic acid regulate the formation of red blood cells, and helps your body use iron*.

In addition, it is also needed for proper digestion, food absorption, carbohydrate and fat metabolism.* It also helps keep your nervous system healthy by assisting the nerves of your body to function and communicate in an optimal manner.*

But that's not all...far from it!

B12 also helps in cell formation and cellular longevity.* Plus, it can support female reproductive health, and promote normal nerve growth and development by maintaining the fatty sheaths.* These fatty sheaths play a vital role as they cover and protect your nerve endings.*

What's more, this workhorse of a micronutrient is critical to your circulation and adrenal hormone production -- plus, it helps boost your immunity.* And, oh yes, let's not forget...

Vitamin B12 supports a healthy mood and feelings of well-being.* And then there's this -- it also provides excellent support for your memory, mental clarity, and concentration.*

Aside from using B12 to give you an energy boost, when does it also make sense to supplement with this all-important vitamin? Well, there are several good reasons to take vitamin B12

And the first reason to take it is if you are a carb type or a strict vegetarian.

Vitamin B12

Do You or a Loved One Experience Any of the Following?

Not many know it, but if you or a family member experience:

  • Tiredness and feelings of weakness...*
  • Less-than-optimal nervous system functioning...*
  • Less-than-optimal eye health...*
  • Loss of appetite and unintended weight loss...*
  • Occasional constipation and gas...*
  • Feelings of mild moodiness...*
  • Less-than-optimal memory...*
  • A tendency toward nervousness...*
  • Less-than-optimal balance...*
  • Less-than-optimal liver or heart health...*
  • Premature grey hair...
  • Occasional digestive issues...

...you may need to supplement with vitamin B12, even if you eat foods rich in B12. Oddly enough, that wasn't a typo.

You can eat plenty of meat, poultry, lamb's liver, brewer's yeast, clams, eggs, herring, mackerel, kidneys, milk, dairy products, or seafood -- and still have low levels of B12. How can that be?

It could be because your body is unable to absorb it from your gut. You see B12 needs the help of a protein in order to be absorbed. That protein is called intrinsic factor. And because the lining of your stomach makes intrinsic factor, people with less-than-optimal gastrointestinal health often need to supplement with B12.*

Likewise, most people over the age of 50 have a limited ability to absorb B12, too. Thus, the need for supplementation

Vitamin B12

Pain-Free Supplementation

With that said, the form of vitamin B12 I'm recommending does NOT come as a pill, tablet, capsule, gelcap, or liquid.

Amazingly, it's B12 in a spray.

A modern marvel that I believe gives most people far better results than anything else. The name of this new product is B12 Energy Booster.* And it's only available here on Mercola.com.

Now, here's the question you may be asking at this point:

"How can something as simple as a spray
work so much better than a pill, tablet, or capsule?"

In a nutshell, I came across an American company that uses Nano technology. This breakthrough technology uses a patented NanoMist® delivery system that shrinks the size of the B12 molecule all the way down to microscopic nanodroplets™.

How does this benefit you?

Quite simply, the B12 in B12 Energy Booster comes in an easily absorbed form your body can now use*.

It turns out that this fine-mist spray formula you spray into your mouth causes the essential nutrients to become absorbed rapidly. .*

As a result, it delivers more of this product's nutrients to your circulatory system, tissues and cells quickly.* And that's not all...

The tiny nanodroplets™ in each fast-acting spray are designed to release the B12 vitamin within a steady, time-controlled manner. This ensures a longer-term benefit from each single dose, boosting efficiency even further.

Needless to say, when you combine B12 Energy Booster's* time-release mechanism with its rapid, uniform and complete absorption, you get one incredible product. A product that, in my opinion, is clearly superior to any B12 pill, tablet, capsule, gelcap, or liquid on the market today.

Remember -- only a small fraction of this crucial vitamin gets absorbed through your gut when you take it in a pill, tablet, capsule, or gelcap.

Why Our "Nano" Products our Safe

Our manufacturer uses molecular mechanism based formulations consisting of highly concentrated oral spray, dropper, and beverage delivery systems in order to allow for absorption throughout the complete digestive system and to reduce first pass liver metabolism.

They have screened over a thousand raw materials and observed very large differences in particle size and solubility. They then utilized a proprietary screening process to identify raw materials that have the smallest particle size combined with natural methods to balance the hydrophobicity (HLB/LogP) and ionic state (pKa, zeta potential) in a water based delivery vehicle.

They have identified numerous food approved, GRAS, and natural products to restore the solubility and bioavailability of most dietary supplements. Their technology delivers completely natural, NOT synthetic, molecules to your digestive system in a form that most closely mimics the hydrated structure found in nature.

The Safe “Nano” Formulation Process

After extensive experimentation our manufacturers found that the most effective methods to enhance the solubility of raw materials is to use a panel of gentle natural methods to disperse (predigest) artificial amorphous aggregates to nanoparticles or smaller (i.e. solution, dispersion, emulsion).

They verify the small particle size by ultrafiltration and particle size analysis using laser diffraction. Unlike the process used in most tablets, they do not add binders, fillers, flow agents, or other artificial excipients. A brief summary of the natural methods used to make stabilized solutions are discussed below that vary for each raw material used in our molecular mechanism based formulations.

  1. Solvent is purified water to mimic 70% found in living systems.
  2. Mild heat to provide kinetic energy to relax the crystalline lattice of aggregates.
  3. Emulsification with natural nano molecules (e.g. saponins, bile salts, phospholipids).
  4. Use only low energy mixing equipment that does not disrupt chemical bonds (i.e. mimic shear from chewing).
  5. Use natural co-solvents based on LogP and HLB of raw materials (e.g. vegetable glycerin).
  6. Adjust pH to for optimal ionization for solubility and to decrease microbial growth.
  7. Adjust ionic salts to stabilize charged molecules in solution (i.e. Zeta potential).
  8. Use natural preservatives such as rosemarinic acid, glycerine and potassium sorbate (low total dose in 780ul spray).
  9. Add natural molecules to stabilize active ingredients (e.g. prevent hydrolysis, oxidation, precipitation).
  10. Use standardized raw materials for highest concentration of active ingredients (HPLC standardized).
  11. Use great tasting all natural flavorings and essential oils for improved compliance.
  12. Use natural sweeteners with specific health benefits (e.g. xylitol).

Better than the FDA Requires

Our manufacturer’s technology platform reverses the artificial large amorphous aggregates to maximize absorption and provides a preferred administration vehicle for the large number of people that do not like to swallow tablets/capsules.

By using laser diffraction and dynamic light scattering they found that the particle size of most dietary supplements (even those claimed to be nano) contain particle aggregates of 1 to 100 microns (size of bacteria to dust mites).

Particles that are micron size contain thousands of molecular aggregates that are often larger in size than the cell and not useful unless they can be digested. The FDA only requires vitamin manufacturer’s to show that the tablets/capsules break apart, and does not specify any particle size requirement or that the formulation can be processed effectively by the digestive system.

The main method the body has designed to disrupt aggregates (i.e. chewing) is not even used with tablet/capsule formulations. Bioavailabilty studies from a hundreds of peer reviewed publications with drugs or natural products consistently shows that a reduction particle size increases absorption (i.e. AOC, Cmax).

Why Our Technology is SAFE!

Molecules in their monodispersed or multimeric nano complexes interact to catalyze life. For example, when you juice vegetables, the cell walls are mechanically disrupted with the mechanical shear of the juicer. This mimics shear action from chewing. The cytoplasmic fluid containing vitamins and other small molecule bioactives are released as juice that can easily pass through a submicron filter.

Standard laboratory procedures used in cell culture experiments further show that nanoparticles or monodisperse solutions are the building blocks of life. Tissue culture media is filtered 0.2 microns (200 nm) to contain only nano or smaller forms of all vitamins, proteins, lipids, growth factors, etc that is necessary for cell growth, T cell activation, and even differentiation of stem cells.

While the particle size of our manufacturer’s formulations are less than a micron, they have verified using a Malvern Spraytec device that the particle size of the droplets from their fine mist sprayers ranges from 30 to 100 microns and are too large to travel the lungs.

Each micron sized spray droplet contains thousands of molecules (i.e. solution, dispersion, or emulsion) in a hydrated state for maximal absorption. The natural formulation technologies used by our manufacturer provide the benefits of enhanced absorption, and avoid the safety issues of artificial particles.

Let's take that a step further and shed some light on multivitamins you may find shocking...

Here's the REAL TRUTH about the B12 in Most Multivitamins:

It all boils down to this...

Most of them contain 100-200 micrograms of B12. But, if you actually took 500 micrograms of B12, you'd get an absorption of about 1.8 micrograms. Let me repeat, only 1.8 out of a total of 500 micrograms. That's an absorption rate of only one third of one percent! But, that's only half of the story.

The late Victor Herbert, a renowned B12 researcher, said that many multivitamin products on the market today contain dangerous B12 analogs.

In other words, analogs get created when crystalline B12 interacts with other nutrients in multivitamin products, such as vitamin C, iron and copper -- increasing your body's need for B12. Does the company selling the multivitamin tell you this vital bit of information? Probably not!

Truth be told, most multi-vitamins sold today are a complete waste of money when it comes to their B12 quality and performance. Now listen up:

Each bottle of B12 Energy Booster delivers a serving size (1,200 micrograms) of 6 sprays per day. And you get approximately 205 metered sprays in each container. Because this ends up being a 34 day supply, you actually receive a nice bonus of 4 additional days!

How can you beat that? And that's just the beginning. Another nice feature of B12 Energy Booster* is that it...

Comes in a Tasty Natural Spearmint Flavor

And in addition to tasting great, it's absolutely FREE of...

  • Sugar
  • Yeast
  • Starch
  • Wheat
  • Soy
  • Gluten
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Dairy

Better yet, it's also FREE of artificial flavors, color, synthetics, binders, fillers, wax, shellac, talcum and animal gelatin.

The bottom line is that our B12 Energy Booster is stimulant-free, contains only natural ingredients, and tastes great! Best of all, it's packaged in a convenient pre-metered, non-aerosol container that easily fits in your purse or pocket. Last but not least, it...

Costs Far Less Than a Cup of Even "Economy" Coffee

By now, you're probably wondering how much B12 Energy Booster costs. I'm happy to tell you the price is very reasonable.

A 34-day supply normally costs just $19.97 -- an excellent value when you consider all the health-promoting and energy-boosting benefits you get*. But as part of a special introductory offer, you don't have to pay the regular price. You can get a full 34-day supply for only $17.87. That's just 52 cents a day -- far less than that cup of caffeine-loaded coffee (and you know that caffeine is certainly not a smart solution to give you more energy).

Why am I being so generous?

Because I know how much you can benefit from this breakthrough product, and I want to give you every incentive to get started right away. And whether you order one, two, three or more B12 Energy Boosters for yourself and loved ones, you're completely protected by my...

100% Unconditional Guarantee

No doubt about it, B12 Energy Booster* is an exceptional product. After all, it can help crank up your energy, and improve overall health and well-being*..

In fact, I'm so sure you'll be delighted with it that I'm offering the following unconditional guarantee.

If you're unsatisfied with B12 Energy Booster for any reason at all, simply let me know anytime. Yes, you read that right. Anytime. And, of course, I will give you a prompt, courteous refund of every penny you paid. No questions asked.

How can I make such a bold guarantee? It's simple: I'm betting that once you start using it, you'll feel so good; you'll never want to be without it again.

But don't just take my word for it. Grab a no-risk supply of B12 Energy Booster and see for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

How Does Natural Health Really Work and Why You Should Consider It.

By Madeleine Innocent

What are the reasons behind the successes found with natural health?

Natural health is an enormous subject, with many different modalities, often covering different aspects of your health. Some focus on body work. Some on diet. Some focus on the whole of you, so are known as holistic. The scope of this article is not sufficient to address this complex subject more than superficially. However, it may provide you with some useful incites.

Natural health, almost as a body, is based on natural laws. This means the modalities are not at war with your body. Instead, they are supporting your body's natural inclination to heal itself. Your immune system was designed to keep you healthy, preventing entry of disease, or to help you recover quickly if disease was not prevented.

However, few people look after this intangible part of themselves, allowing it to become almost useless. So, ill health is an inevitable result.

The natural modalities of health care work to restore this essential part of you. This can come through healthy diet, from getting out into the sun, from changing your job, from changing any unhealthy habit, or one that does not promote your natural good health, to a health habit. The natural modality, homeopathy, probably restores your immune system faster than any other.

Fighting disease and ill health does tend to ensure it survives. There is a natural law that, in essence, implies that what you resist, persists. Fighting disease is resistance.

Naturally good health comes from addressing the cause of your problem and personalizing your symptoms. You are a unique individual, so your treatment should be so, too. How can any other way work?

By resisting your health problem, you make it stronger. By accepting it and then working from this state of acceptance to change things, you have a far better chance of reversing the cause permanently. Even if your condition is severe or life threatening, there is still a possibility that this can be reversed. You'll never know unless you try.

What Is Holistic Health Care and Is It For Me?

Wikipedia describes Holistic Health as a concept in medical practice upholding that all aspects of people's needs, psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole. As defined above, the holistic view on treatment is widely accepted in medicine.[1] A different definition, claiming that disease is a result of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental imbalance, is used in alternative medicine.[2] Holistic health focuses on all facets of human functioning, which involves our taking responsibility for maintaining all aspect of our well-being.

Another definition to Holistic Health (Holistic Medicine) is as follows: Holistic Health Medicine is a personal and comprehensive approach to natural health and the manifestation of human potential through healing and evolving spirit, mind, emotion and body. The practitioner may use any variety of natural healing suggestions to work in partnership with an individual toward greater health, wholeness, balance and integration. This approach to health recognizes the patient as a whole person, not just a disease or a collection of symptoms. In the course of treatment, holistic medical practitioners address a client's emotional and spiritual dimensions as well as the nutritional, environmental and lifestyle factors that may contribute to an illness.

While we must use common sense in applying new techniques to enrich our lives and wellbeing here is a list of some of the forms of therapy that are used within the holistic health concept.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a 5,000 year-old medical practice which alleviates pain and increases immune response by balancing the flow of vital life energy throughout the body. It is a system of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning by inserting very fine needles at precise acupuncture points. This classical Chinese healing practice balances the flow of the body's energy through channels called meridians. When these meridians become obstructed, giving rise to symptoms of pain and illness, the insertion of needles restores health by balancing the flow of energy. Acupuncture is used to relieve symptoms of numerous conditions as well as to promote general health and well being.

Aromatherapy

Essential oils distilled from flowers, leaves, stems, roots or fruits are used to therapeutically address physiological and psychological issues such as anxiety, depression and muscular tension, infections, skin disorders, immune deficiencies and symptoms of stress. Oils are inhaled from vaporizers, massaged into the skin or placed in baths. When inhaled or absorbed, the molecules stimulate receptors in the brain which then trigger a signal in the limbic system, which in turn, influence the release of hormones and neurochemicals, bringing about the desired effect.

Bodywork

This term refers to therapies such as massage, deep tissue manipulation, movement awareness, and energy balancing - a general collection of modalities, all of which improve the structure and functioning of the human body. They may or may not involve physical touch, but they all facilitate the body's own healing response. Bodywork in all its forms helps to reduce pain, soothe injured muscles, stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation and promote deep relaxation. See individual practitioners and specific definitions for more detailed information.

Breathwork

This method is marked by its focus on the breath. The practitioner guides the client through a breathing process. Breathwork rejuvenates the body and mind and can release emotional memories that are stored in the body. It is also used to reach deep inner peace, clarity, relaxation and healing on many levels.

Chinese (Oriental) Medicine

Oriental Medical Practitioners are trained to use a variety of ancient and modern therapeutic methods - including acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, moxibustion (heat therapy) and nutritional and lifestyle counseling - to treat a broad range of both chronic and acute illnesses.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic returns the body to balance through adjustments of the spine and joints, normalizing joint motion, reducing nerve interference, relieving stress and restoring normal body function. Whenever there is a system containing many movable parts, a complex balance is necessary between those parts. Chiropractors influence the body's nervous system and natural defense mechanisms in order to alleviate pain and improve general health. Because of its effectiveness in treating back problems, headaches and other injuries and traumas, chiropractic has become the second largest primary health care field in the world.

Complementary Healing (Complementary Medicine)

The use of natural and other alternative approaches which complement the practice of conventional medicine (old viewpoint) or the use of approaches which are complementary to the system's own innate healing processes (new viewpoint).

Detoxification/Cleansing Programs

These programs are the natural response to our constant exposure to toxic chemicals and pollutants found in earth's atmosphere, water, food and soil. Detoxification has been used to treat a variety of symptoms, including decreased immune function, neurotoxicity, hormonal dysfunction, allergies, arthritis, psychological disturbances and even cancer. Detoxification therapy seeks to restore optimum health by eliminating or neutralizing toxins via the liver, the kidneys, the urine, the feces, exhalation and perspiration - helping to rid the body of chemicals and pollutants and facilitating a return to health.

Energywork

Practitioners of this range of therapies find blockages or stagnations in the energy field in and around the body and restore its proper circulation and balance, stimulating the body's innate healing capacity. The practitioner uses subtle touch or holding on specific points to harmonize the flow of energy through the body and to enhance the body's structural balance. Energywork is effective in promoting the healing of many conditions and promoting well-being on all levels. Some types of energy work are Acupuncture, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Polarity Therapy, Reiki. See individual practitioners and specific definitions for more detailed information.

Feng Shui

Feng Shui (pronounced fung schway) is the Chinese philosophy, practice of, and spiritual approach to architecture and interior design. Feng Shui can be used to enhance your environment (home and office) and its impact on your physical and spiritual well-being.

Herbology

Herbal Medicine is the therapeutic use of plants, and is the most ancient form of health care known to humankind. An herb is a plant or plant part valued for its medicinal, savory or aromatic qualities. Herb plants produce and contain a variety of chemical substances that act upon the body. Herbs have been used to treat virtually every disease and condition. The use of herbology ranges from pain relievers, hormone balancers, energizers, sleep aids, stomach soothers, skin soothers, and treatment of everything from allergies to cancer, from depression to hysteria. Herbs are used for both prevention and treatment.

Homeopathy (Homeopathic Medicine)

Homeopathy is a system of medicine that uses highly diluted doses from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms to stimulate natural defenses in the body. Homeopathic remedies are based on the theory that "like cures like," and uses remedies that cause symptoms of a certain illness in one who is healthy in order to stimulate the body's natural defenses to heal those same symptoms in one who is ill. The word homeopathy comes from the Greek word 'homeos' meaning similar, and 'pathos' meaning suffering.

A homeopath will take a detailed medical history (including physical and emotional symptoms) from a client, and then tailor remedies to heal the symptoms. It is particularly effective in treating chronic illnesses that fail to respond to conventional treatment.

Jin Shin Jyutsu ®

Jin Shin JyutsuÒ physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. Jin Shin Jyutsu brings balance to the body's energies, which promotes optimal health and well-being, and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation, and reducing the effects of stress. Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied as self-help and also by a trained practitioner. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips on designated safety energy locks, to harmonize and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress, which accumulate through normal daily living. For those of us addressing existing stress or health disharmonies, or for those simply wishing to participate actively in maintaining health, harmony and well-being, the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple and powerful tool, available to all.

Magnetic Therapy

Practitioners of this therapy use negative magnetic fields which have a beneficial effect on health. By placing magnets near or on an injury site, a force field is created that encourages muscle relaxation and increased blood flow, while reducing inflammation. Devices range from small, simple magnets to large machines capable of generating high magnitudes of field strength.

Massage Therapy

This is a general term covering a variety of disciplines for the manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic purposes - Swedish, Shiatsu, trigger point, neuromuscular - with roots in both Eastern and Western cultures. Massage improves the function of the body's connective tissues and/or muscles. Among conditions alleviated by massage are whiplash, low back and neck pain, and degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis. It involves the practice of kneading or otherwise manipulating muscles or other soft tissue with the intent of increasing circulation and detoxification, reducing physical and emotional stress and increasing general wellness.

Meditation

Meditation is an easy and simple way to balance a person's physical, emotional, and mental states. It is easily learned and has been used as an aid in treating stress, anxiety, pain management, and as part of an overall treatment for other conditions including hypertension and heart disease. Research shows that meditation decreases the heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen consumption, and even decreases blood pressure.

Mind / Body Medicine

Recognizing the profound interconnection of mind and body, the body's innate healing capabilities and the role of self-responsibility in the healing process, mind/body medicine utilizes a wide range of modalities, including biofeedback imagery, hypnotherapy, meditation and yoga.

Music & Healing

Music and rhythm are natural to all of us. We take our minds off our worries and release our daily concerns when we focus on even the simplest rhythms. Muscles relax and joy and pleasure take the place of tension.

Natural Foods

This term generally refers to food or food products which are minimally processed and remain as close as possible to their whole, original state. Because they are less tampered with, natural foods are generally more nutritious than their refined counterparts.

Naturopathy (Naturopathic Medicine)

Naturopathic Medicine, a primary health-care system, treats health conditions by utilizing the body's inherent ability to heal. Naturopathic physicians aid the healing process by incorporating a variety of alternative methods based on the patient's individual needs - nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathic medicine and oriental medicine. Diet, lifestyle, work and personal history are all considered when determining regimen.

Organic

Organically grown products (food, cotton, hemp) are grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides. Instead, organic growers use composted fertilizer and natural pest management to produce healthy crops. Since there are no chemicals involved in the production, these products cause fewer allergic reactions in the consumer. Because composted or natural fertilizer contains more minerals, the food produced organically has more nutrients.

Psychotherapy - Body Oriented

Body-Oriented Psychotherapy seeks to enhance the psychotherapeutic process by incorporating a range of massage, bodywork and movement techniques. Acknowledging the mind/body link, practitioners may use light touch, softer deep-tissue manipulation, breathing techniques, movement, exercise or body-awareness techniques to help address emotional issues.

Reiki

Reiki is the practice of transmitting healing energy through the hands, based on simple, ancient healing techniques. Reiki uses specific hand positions, on or above parts of the body that correspond to the major organs and energy centers, such as the heart or adrenal glands. Because the purpose of Reiki is to increase your own self-healing powers, it is helpful for any sort of ailment - physical, mental or emotional. Reiki is used to heal everything from stress and simple skin rashes to migraine headaches and cancer pain. It is also effective in conjunction with psychotherapy for people who have experienced emotional trauma or for personal growth.

Shamanic Healing

Shamanic Healers are conductors of healing energy or energy from the spiritual realm. Calling upon spiritual "helpers" such as power animals, angels, inner teachers, the client's higher self or other spiritual forces. Shamanic Healing is used as treatment for a range of emotional and physical illnesses.

Shiatsu

The most widely known form of acupressure, shiatsu has been used in Japan for many years to treat pain and illness and to maintain health. Using a series of techniques, practitioners apply rhythmic finger pressure at specific points on the body to stimulate chi, or vital energy.

Tai Chi

A series of meditative and self-healing movements based on Chinese teachings over 6,000 years old, Tai Chi literally translates to "The Grand Ultimate Way of Life" as taught through movement. Also a Martial Art, Tai Chi is generally practiced as a non-contact, non-competitive sport for focus, self-awareness, health and relaxation. The slow, rhythmic movements are very effective in returning the skeletal structure, muscles and organs to their natural alignment.

Vibrational Healing

Practitioners of Vibrational Healing use a variety of modalities to promote healing by balancing the client's energy field. Such modalities may include homeopathy, flower essences, acupuncture and energywork such as Reiki and Polarity Therapy.

Yoga

Yoga means "union" and aims at the realization of the unity of our whole being. Usually taught as a sequence of poses and breath exercises. The spine nourishes the central nervous system and the condition of the spine is critical for our physical and emotional well being. Yoga postures exercise the spine and stimulate the lymphatic system, helping to remove toxins from the body, which, if allowed to accumulate, may cause pain and stiffness in the muscles and joints. The physical postures, breathing exercises and meditation practices of yoga have been proven to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, regulate heart rate, and even retard the aging process.

Overall Holistic Health care can be seen as a philosophy which seeks to achieve balance and harmony and to promote well being by attending to elements of life such as emotional, spiritual and physical health as well as lifestyle. Many of the therapys listed above can be explored in the comfort of your own home.
